Brexit: Our “diplomatic triumphs, be they in the "reset" with the EU or the trade deal with Trump, largely consist in the removal of obstacles that didn't even exist before”

Good analysis on the bugger’s muddle that is Brexit and its perma-idiotic aftermath.

Starmer’s successful ‘reset’ with Europe highlights an underlying incoherence. The only rational long-term strategy is to rejoin the EU, says Guardian columnist Timothy Garton Ash

A Chicago father who has lived in the U.S. for about 30 years and has no criminal record has become a prime example of those facing warrantless arrests by ICE, as the Trump administration seeks to increase deportation numbers, according to immigration advocates.

First past the post is bad enough, ‘safe seats’ like Tatton are an insult to democracy but this practice of jumping ship after you’ve been voted in, is pure pisstaking. If you defect, your seat should be up for grabs. Voters deserve better than this. Even in rock solid Tory Tatton.

The people who lost children and other loved ones in the Texas floods are owed honest answers from officials. They should be told why flash flood warnings issued hours earlier were not conveyed to people in the path of the water. They don’t need more prayers from politicians. They need answers.

More than 40 deaths. Many of them children. I wonder how many more will die because of this, Hurricane Season is just starting.
43–51 Texans are dead. Drowned. Washed away. Families shattered.

And it didn’t have to happen.

Trump slashed NOAA forecasting tools months ago — chasing budget cuts while climate chaos grew.

This flood was predictable. Their deaths were preventable.

This kind of article in this kind of paper is *exactly* why our politics is such a mess of distrust and sloganeering idiocy.
These aren’t serious people. This is not serious journalism.
They are piss-taking menaces who want power without scrutiny and who will slide our country into the bin.

Great question!
Just curious, what happens to the homes, bank accounts, pets and personal belongings to those have have been “disappeared”?
Homes looted? Accounts emptied? Does the bank foreclose? Pets die from starvation?

Knowing Brexit is a deeply dishonest project should be good enough reason to bin it, along with the liars who flogged it to the country.

Instead, we stay stuck in this Brexit dead-end because no one quite has the courage to admit what an epic fuck-up it is.
