.. along with the lavish set and costume design throughout the movie. It’s a sweeping emotional movie, with Victor and the Creature’s tragic relationship front and center. I’m really happy to have had the opportunity to see del Toro’s ambitious love letter to Shelley’s novel on the big screen.

While I still prefer their sophomore effort a little more, this one has a dope ending that I’d like for them to follow through with and see what direction they would take in a possible sequel. TALK TO ME is available on 4K/Blu-ray and streaming on HBO Max and Paramount+.

It resembles us close enough just to be that more disturbing. CUCKOO is available on Blu-ray and streaming on HBO Max.

Hunter Schafer gives a great performance as a disaffected teen stuck in the middle of a very strange situation. And then there’s the delightful Dan Stevens turning in a fun performance as an eccentric preservationist. I liked the simple but effective creature design of the homo cuculidae.

While the movie makes some changes from the book, the spirit of King’s work is very much alive in the film. The set pieces are all executed well and Pennywise and the forms It takes is much more scary and unhinged in this outing. IT is available on 4K/Blu-ray and streaming on HBO Max.

.. that Jennifer is kind of a toxic element in her life, but also possessed by some demonic force. Ultimately the movie is about a messy break up between two people, complete with the usual hurt feelings, blood & death. It’s a good time. JENNIFER’S BODY is available on Blu-ray and streaming on Hulu.

And it just gets weirder (in a fun way) from there. I watched this with friends and we all had a pretty good time with it! For cult movie enthusiasts or fans of cinematic oddities, I recommend checking this one out. THE MANITOU is available on Blu-ray and VOD.

I second this!

After a few rewatches, I think I might prefer the second one a little more

Not a bad idea at all!

For me, this sequel feels like a warm blanket of Halloweeny goodness and I’m happy to get all wrapped up in it. GOOSEBUMPS 2 is available on 4K/Blu-ray and streaming on Netflix.

While it’d be easy to select the first GOOSEBUMPS movie first, this one in particular hits on both the love of the property but also love for Halloween, so it feels appropriate to throw it into the mix during an October viewing.

I could see it working well with The Silence of the Lambs. But would definitely want to do a Longlegs one.

.. it is also sports moments of a wicked sense of humor. And not to forget to mention, but it features a kick ass score that is amongst the best of the year. THE UGLY STEPSISTER is streaming on Shudder.

I didn’t know this was a re-imagining of the Cinderella tale, even though that isn’t a secret, but it might now be my favorite version of that classic tale. This Norwegian retelling chooses body horror as its lens and even though this a dark retelling and has moments that could make you squeamish..

Agreed. I thought they might amp the crazy but it’s more nuanced than I anticipated, and that was a pleasant surprise.
