Anyway, I recommend it for any mecha fans out there who don't want to deal with the complexity of something like Lancer, but still like a little bit of crunch. You can grab a download preview from the kickstarter page here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/bas... 8/8

I'm a fan of the class skills and magic system though. While there are powerful sorcerers, laypeople can also gain magic ability by buying the magic skill. They will not be as powerful as the sorcerers, but they will be able to use a few low-level spells. I like this better than D&D's cantrips 7/?

It also has some flaws, like its own fantasy units of measurement. I’ve never enjoyed having to use these. Be ready to juggle ritts, reets, gurens, and gurans when trying to calculate distance and weights. The starter scenario is also showing its age. 6/?

The magic system reminds me of xianxia stories . Sorcerers cast ‘seals’ by performing mudra-like hand shapes. You’re also gonna roll a lot of dice. Seriously. All these skills will have you rolling lots of skill checks. There’s also a luck mechanic for boosting your success. 5/?

Classes are built around skill packages that remind me of Traveller. Skills are levelled up not just by completing mission goals but also from rolling complete successes and total failures. Your PC can literally learn from their failures. 4/?

Released in 1989, the same year as AD&D 2e, Wares Blade feels ahead of its time. It uses D&D-style attributes but you roll 3d5 instead of 3d6 for stats, and “Base Values” work like ability modifiers. Luck is a resource that you spend to increase rolls. 3/?

This isn’t a game about mech pilots upgrading their machines. The mechs (called ryudes) are rare ancient relics, given life by a magical mask that they wear. Pilots wear their own mask to link with it. Stronger ryudes resist the pilot’s will, so the PC will need Piloting skill to control it. 2/?

A very cynical and unfair take on what is a universal practice by publishers and IP holders. It makes sense to put all your IP under one department for licensing purposes. E.g., Disney does it; you deal only with DCP for all FRANCHISES (not series). You don’t go directly to Pixar or Lucasfilm.

I found a replay for Pearl Seed and this dungeon grid thing has caught my attention. Does it use cards to generate a dungeon?

I hope you keep refining this. Its a great little system.
Roll to attack can sometimes end up as one of those autopilot rolls and this is a nice way to keep it fresh and interesting.

Hey thanks for checking it out. The HD for the drinks are explained in the brewing section. They’re the number of d6’s to roll and the target for success is in square brackets.

The resource score is up with the alewife category, below their age roll.
I should probably organise it a bit better…
