Owns too many books. Likes James Bond (esp. Sir Tim of Dalton), Star Trek, Blakes 7, Doctor Who & Quatermass. And that is me smiling.
I'm continuing to revisit the Predator series with Predator 2. First thoughts on the early scenes is that it's trying too hard to be Robocop with the "1997 is the future!" scenes. Plus, lots of movie cop dialogue like "the feds are up my ass", etc.

Columbo is on tv. It's an episode from 2003. A guy in it looks just like a young Matthew Rhys. It is Matthew Rhys! Mind blown. I still think of Columbo being from the 1970s. Rhys has just checked his email. Weird to see email in columbo. This was the show that guest-started Robby the robot.

Tonight I watched Predator, because it had been a while.
Big on explosions and matcho arm wrestling. Hardly any Predator. Repeated use of the same Silvestri music.
Then the last half hour kicks in, and it's damn near perfect.
Fun fact, "get to the choppa" was actually said twice.

Saw the Nuremburg movie. Perhaps a little simplified, but it was gripping enough that it seemed shorted than its 2.5 hour running time. I'm impressed that in this day and age we got a movie with longish scenes of talking in a courtroom. And frankly, there's no better time for this movie to be made.

I finally got my copy of Blakes 7 Series 2 on blu ray today.
No more FOMO.
Now watching episode 1, Redemption. Yes, with the new effects switched on.

I've just been to see Predator Badlands and I enjoyed it very muchly. I would never have predicted it would be a movie about an alien outcast and a broken robot, and that it would work so well. Elle Fanning was particularly good as Thia. Probably one of my top two movies of the year so far.

Nice to see Francesca turn up again in The Witcher season 4. Whenever she is on screen I feel great sympathy for the elves who lost their historic homelands to the humans.
Either that or I just fancy her.

I had read a chunk of The Witcher - Baptism of Fire a while back, and then it got lost in my pile of unfinished books. I picked it up after watching season 4 episode 3 to see where I had got to. It was right at the same point where episode 3 ends with the whole 'she's a witch!" shenanigans. Fun.

I'm three episodes into The Witcher season 4, trying to decide if I'm enjoying it, and I've realised it's like going from Gladiator with Russell Crowe to Gladiator II with the other guy. He's just kind of there. Henry could speak volumes with a grunt. Oh well, at least them ladies are still there.

It's ages since I watched a #JamesBond movie, and given its 30 years since it came out, I'm #NowWatching Goldeneye.
By the way, how the hell can it be 30 years?

River Bann is looking a bit high at Coleraine. Lots of water going on.

I watched the first episode of Down Cemetery Road on Apple tv, mainly because Ruth Wilson is in it. It started with pretty much all the characters being unlikeable and unbelievable. But I stuck with it, and by the end I'm interested in seeing the next episode.

I watched A House of Dynamite on Netflix. I have mixed feelings about it, but no spoilers. I will say I have read people's thoughts on how the story structure was a mistake, and I'm inclined to agree. The third go around I was a lot less 'on edge of seat' than at the start.
But, Rebecca Ferguson.

I just rescued the neighbour's cat off the roof of a derelict house at night using a rickety ladder. Let's just say it was considerably less elegant than when Christopher Reeve rescued a cat as Superman. Plus, the cat wasn't impressed.

#NowWatching #DoctorWho Heaven Sent for the first time since I watched ye olde original broadcast. I seem to remember my mind being a little bit blown.

Heading back to Newcastle airport I gave myself lots of extra time "in case the Metro breaks down again".
Reader, the Metro broke down. Walked all the way from Central to Jesmond where it's still operating from.

Also, I finally got to visit Alnwick Castle. Very impressive. However, I declined the opportunity to take a broomstick training lesson.

Finally got back to Barter Books in Alnwick. Aka one of Britain's largest second-hand book shops. Had a good old browse. And yes, made purchases.

24 hours on from my previous photo and Newcastle has reverted to a more grey look. But the rain has kept off!

Thoughts on Tron Ares.... It was ok. I did appreciate the (spoiler) recreation of the 1982 Grid. Would have liked to have seen Sam and Quorra from Tron Legacy.
Did like the David Warner portrait glowering over proceedings.
Gillian Anderson was TOTALLY wasted. Visually stunning. I prefer Legacy.

I'm sat in the cinema to see Tron Ares, and I'm literally the only one here...

On my travels.
The Golden Hour in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Gorgeous day.
(Quite a contrast to when I was in Newcastle in July last year and my photos look like it was winter.)

I'm on my travels. Made a quick stop in Durham.

New book purchased on a Friday.
Final Orbit by Chris Hadfield.
1970s space based thriller shenanigans. Could have been written for me.
