Yeah agree with both points. He regularly won us games on his own that season and basically spoiled us.

I think it’s also that he isn’t inspiring the same level of confidence in the defence as he once did. We also concede more shots because he isn’t as dominant coming and claiming as he has been. He set very high standards on that.

I haven’t got my pitchforks out for Martinez but he hasn’t been an elite goalie for a couple of seasons. Still does incredible things but he’s been noticeably less decisive off his line for a while (like just then).

Yeah I wouldn’t say we have many clutch players or natural leaders, having added so much technically. Interesting that we still rely a lot on Mings and McGinn for that. Bailey probably, but struggled to back it up with performances. Onana probably growing into that role.

Yeah completely. Feel for him, he set such a high bar for himself last season and seems to have to take every chance to keep fans off his back. Really hard game for him to come back into against that back 3 as well. The whole Duran sideshow can’t have helped him and that annoys me.
