This kid made onionade (3 ways) and made his friends try it. His caramelized onion variant is a misnomer, it should actually be called "blended burnt onions with water and sugar-ade". The gags and shudders say it all.

I was definitely expecting this to be about a misguided 3rd year undergrad. Still shocking how many established professionals rely on it for basic tasks to this extent.

My aunt sent this to the family groupchat a few weeks ago and the phrase is still burned in my brain

Ah, I didn't know there was a previous husband. 👍

Not even her ex-husband, it was comments from her ex-husband's father. Good's ex-husband died a few years ago. CBC had comments from the ex-father-in-law on the first day.

The photo is at least 10 years old. It's also attached to a NYT article from 2016.

Yikes. Glad I didn't miss out on anything good. I kept with that show for two seasons too much already.

In an interview in the Hollywood Reporter from July, he says his next project is an adaptation of Joe Abercrombie's recent book The Devils. He bought the rights, is a longtime fan of the author, and said he'd start it when Fire & Ash was done. We shall see.

Agreed. The next home game in Ottawa is December 27th, which is over three weeks away. My partner and I are missing 3 games while travelling for the holidays, so the next home game we can attend is during the last week of January. It's quite an unbalanced schedule.

We were there tonight as well. Lots of tension and anger at the recent decision to renovate the arena and remove about 3k seats. We saw quite a few "Lansdowne 2.No" signs in the crowd. We'll have to keep going to games to show we don't want to lose our team to another city because of this.

Along with the MIT paper this summer that showed that using ChatGPT in creative and research tasks led to significant brain atrophy, this contributes to the slew of research that demonstrates the danger of depending on LLMs for cognitive tasks.

The paper is open-access! Some interesting nuggets:

I read it out loud to my girlfriend and I ran out of breath because of the lack of punctuation. The turns of phrases are exceptionally dull, as well.

Going to my Pinterest food boards tonight while meal planning with my gf. A horrid new feature on Pinterest is that it shows "recommended pins" when I click on my boards, rather than showing me my actual pins. Turned that beta feature off as fast as I could. JUST SHOW ME MY STUFF.

He also makes a bunch of tearful reaction videos with people who criticize him. I've seen too much of that before to know it's time to leave the boat.

Yeah... I used to watch the videos he made with his husband. The pranks were cute, but their videos have definitely pivoted into fishing for pity, compliments, rage and sales. Makes me wonder if the stories about his disability discrimination around Seattle are exaggerated too.

I was upset at first when Cinta was killed in s2 of Andor shortly after reuniting with her girlfriend Vel. But yeah, that season had a ludicrous number of characters killed and the ones who survived were about to die in Rogue One. Very few happy endings there.

I really wanted to write a fic of them back in my fic-writing days. There still isn't a single one of them on ao3!

My dream pairing for Grilka is with Jadzia. They have more in common than with either Quark or Worf, and I bet they'd have amazing chemistry. Alas, 'twas the nineties and the gay women couldn't have a happy ending together.

My girlfriend and I did both recently. Biodôme is a classic in Montreal. In Halifax, we walked the trails in Pt Pleasant Park and ate at The Wooden Monkey on the Dartmouth waterfront. Didn't get to the John W Doull bookstore, but I would recommend. Also the central municipal library!

I started reading the Vatta's War series by Elizabeth Moon this week and it checks that box way better than Star Trek has in a while. Then again, that's because the author was a 1st LT in the Marine Corps from the late 1960s to sometime in the 80s. Eager to get the rest from the library.
