Might as well get it all done in one season and figure all the wrinkles all together. Of course there is pressure to win this year but with the league win, VVD and Salah aging, there is an understanding that we have a big task on hand to build for the future.

I don‘t see a scenario where nobody comes in tbh, feels like it is out of question to reach that level of sales for no one else to come in.

Indy said this on Monday, he also reports that a bid is on the table and hasn’t been rejected yet by Newcastle. Coupled with the Wissa/Brentford news and Craig hope saying it might be just Wissa needed to get the train rolling, maybe we get some news today.

Yeah, I do agree, I think an Ekitike-Isak-Salah front three works with Wirtz behind them. I think we defended a lot in a 5 chain at the back with Gakpo on left and Kerkez tucked in. Maybe when Grav is back we get to see him drop deeper and allow Kerkez to be there instead.

The only issue I have with this is seeing how much Gakpo had to drop and help with the defence on the left, I don‘t think we can expect the same from Ekitike do we? Gakpo was defending in our third sometimes

I agree, think a bid from us is inventible. Do you think the plan was always both Hugo and Isak? I don’t see us pivoting so quickly to Hugo especially after getting no response on our Isak inquiry. Feels like the plan was always two and we felt that Newcastle might get Hugo so we moved.

I feel like no player will ever push for move without having a contract offer he likes from another club and also a sort of guarantee from said club that they can pay the transfer fee. Would be stupid to burn bridges without that security.

Feel like I am not excited for football at the moment but also feel I‘ve never felt more connected to the club after all of this. Almost want the players to use this as motivation to do great for him.

The only thing why this doesn’t work is because you can’t bench Story really, Mayer will have to wait for his opportunity. The rest could be easily done.

Whitlock, Chapman and Slaten came in and shoved. Feels like the bullpen is pretty bare after those three though, no one to trust in a tight game like this.

The worst part about all of this, is how the division is more open than it was in the last few years, they have the clearest path to plugging their holes compared to the others and the young core to build on this. In isolation not the worst of moves for 2026 but maybe get the 2025 squad ready first?
