I came across this post while telling myself that I really need to cut back on impulse purchases.

If I stop to measure the spot on the wall where I plan to hang it once it arrives, I don't think that quite counts as "impulse".

I have the memory of a goldfish so my response to this cycles between "AO3 is amazing and provides us with a wonderful service, we need to be patient during the occasional downtime" and "oooh, I wonder if there's a new chapter of [fic]?" *checks* "dammit."

It's more satisfying if they do it voluntarily. Pick an impossible location, hype it up, and make rich people want to take a hideously unsafe mode of transportation to get there.

I do think it's good to see it, though. Not because I'm going "yay corporations" or have any intention of giving them my money, but that in the current climate it's a bad sign if a company stops doing this.
