Lots of people out yesterday protesting while the arguments were happening, including a handful of congresspeople.

Started a new little series of postcard sized collages on then back of daily prayers for lent.
At the top of a blank white wall space are 5 small (4.25x5.5”) collages by artist Molly McCracken. On the far left the first Collage contains a black and white door with an image of two white women, one in a blue dress, looking up to the corner and one with her back to the audience in a pink dress the second collage contains words from ads ripped out of an old national geographic Magazine, and a woman in a short sleeve shirt with short brown hair and her back to the audience. The third collage contains more words from ads from the National Geographic magazine and includes a woman in a green coat and orange cap, pushing an old-fashioned baby buggy with a young child in it. The fourth Collage contains some words near the top that say “now we have the authority“, part of a black-and-white photograph that shows a door in the background and someone’s arm with a cane in the foreground, an old edge of paper with tape on it into the right a woman wearing a plaid skirt and a white shirt with her arm around a young child. Took down the finished piece I was working on and started a new one in the body abstractions series. This group of images go from the blank wall on the right, to midway through my work today in the middle, to where I left it when I went home. Mixed media collage on paper. Size very large.

This one has many of the drawn in elements with watercolor pencil and Stabilo pencil in a variety of colors plus one vertical collage piece in the left third. Artist Molly McCracken’s studio wall. On the board is a large piece of paper approximately 72 x 48“ with an abstract mixed media collage of the internal workings of the artist’s body. Starting at the left are green shapes and white shapes with small neon, yellow and orange circles. There are also white and gray and purple curved lines near the top and running along the bottom horizontally is a red and pink line. in the center is a blue circular shape and to the right of that gray funnels, running horizontally and connecting in the middle. To the right of that are many vertical lines intersected by a curvy horizontal line about midway up the paper. Below the central line, the colors are primarily black, green and magenta. Above the central line, the colors are primarily purple, blue and black. To the far right there is an orange vertical line. It is hard to describe the many layers and levels of paper paint and drawing that create different shapes with color and texture.

Very productive day with my studio assistant Gelli plate printing papers for upcoming workshops.

#februllage day 10 - dots. Cut from an old Nat Geo photo of the 1953 Inaugural Parade.

The 32 dots range in size from approximately 1/4 inch to one inch in size and are arranged to approximately mimic what the photo looked like before it was cut up, sort of as if you were looking through Swiss cheese at the parade. Some parts have been changed and arranged in a way to make things aligned that the artist felt looked better. In the lower right hand corner is a date stamp with FEB 10 2025 and below in pencil the word DOTS.

Day 3 of #februllage. School.
