Really fantastic talk yesterday at @kingscollegelondon.bsky.social by @kevinguyan.bsky.social on his latest book Rainbow Trap. I am now spending the rest of the week untangling all my thoughts on Queer data. Truly fascinating!

Another wonderful talk last night at the @bishopsgateinst.bsky.social @ukfetisharchive.bsky.social yesterday on the underground porn/reelers industry in soho!

After an early start, I'm now at the Women's Archive of Wales event 'Out of the Shadows' at Glamorgan Archive. Check out the tech for live Welsh to English translation for speakers speaking in Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤️

✨Home Darkroom Photos of the Day✨ Today I came across an article in the 1976 issue of "The Army Reserve" on How to build a nickel-dime photo darkroom. This particular article looked how how to build your own enlarger using 'everyday' objects including coffee cans!

Sending my dad today's darkroom prints: "why are you spending the hottest day of the year in the dark??" 🥹
Because my brain has been full and busy and the darkroom is peaceful and still?

Celebrating my first (year) major PhD hand in (about home darkrooms) with getting in the darkroom 😅

1/2 - 12 years ago I decided, for our Professional Enquiry module, to look into a career in "writing about photography". We had to interview people in the field, so in addition to my tutor David Evans, I emailed David Campany & Richard West, not thinking they would reply.

✨Home darkroom darkroom photos of the day✨ Looking through some of my own archive and here is a photo my friend took of me when I was teaching him how to caffenol develop. From bedroom to bathroom, then back to the bedroom to scan!

My mum sits me down to go through some family bits and pieces for me to choose from. One of them was a velvet sewing kit of her grandma's that also contained a small cross stitch booklet she had made, possibly in school! What a goregous little thing! I will have to do a little research into it!

Finally got to see The Valleys show at the Amgueddfa Cymru today and it did not disappoint! What a great show!

My parents told me to go through the stuff I left at theirs during the pandemic/when I moved to Sweden and a forgotten trove of photos awaits my inspection 👀

Random question but would anyone like this? It is an output of a writers residency as part of the 'Challenging Archives' project by University of Bristol's Theatre Archive and Franko B. Free to a good home! Only getting rid of because I have 2 of them!

Happy Birthday to my twin, queen of the goths and a throw back to our wet plate sesh with jarvis photography. I will never get over the person who said I look like I'm being haunted by the ghost of a Victorian child.

Missing snowy Sweden and the little animal footprints I would see outside my apartment door. So here is a throw back to when I was messing around with making a (hot) chocolate developer for black and white film

Last night I treated myself to the British icon, the chippie. Whilst spacing out, staring at the photoshop job on the (presumed) stock images for the meal deals, I noticed the backdrop of waves. I guess they're trying to evoke the seaside but if its another stock image, which sea is it? 🤔

Had a great time at the Krampus Market yesterday and met @mattlodder.com at his stall where I bought some Christmas gifts and chatted about photo history! 🪡📸🖤

My Gen Z friends say Facebook is dead, but it is where hobby communities thrive such as alt photo enthusiasts. Today, on the advice of the many cross stitch groups I'm in, I downloaded pattern tracking software for my projects. I simultaneously love it and hate seeing how far I have to go 🥹

Had a great time at the @ukfetisharchive.bsky.social open day! Albums, slides, magazines, darkroom prints and more! My favs were self portraits sent into a 40s mac mag, the letters included very detailed descriptions of how he took the photo & another writer marveled at the ease of developing images
