Testing red sgraffito on pink clay body (white clay body wedged with red slip). This is bisqued, not yet covered in clear glaze.

Making art I naturally think, “Oh, that’s what God was doing here, with this fern,” like I’m a detective retracing somebody’s steps.

Paul Simon‘s concert last night was gorgeous musically, as well as an extremely delightful education in a tiny slice of music history. It absolutely felt like a gift from the artist.

I made a dark and moody canister, and I’m happy with the glaze. Mayco celadon bloom over Mayco black engobe (the latter applied when it was greenware.) I love celadon bloom on white clay body as well.

May I also recommend carving leather hard clay aka gouging. Also, you can poke holes in it.

I made some nesting bowls! Different glaze on inside of each bowl, Mayco honey flux over sgraffitoed black engobe on the outside. The honey flux turned the black engobe a rich blue color, which was a welcome surprise.
