Relying only on household-based data risks undercounting LGBTQ+ partnerships and misrepresenting their lives.

To fix that, we need relationship data plus sexual & gender identity measures. That’s how we accurately reflect LGBTQ+ experiences in policy & research.

So many people do not understand this. It’s not that everyone used to die at 40. It’s that so many children died it brought down the average.
A reminder that the improvements that we’ve seen in life expectancy over the centuries are largely driven by preventing infants and children from dying. If you survived past childhood, you probably were going to live to 60.
