🌱 Welcome to our official bluesky profile!

We are a research group based at the "Estación Experimental del Zaidín" (EEZ-CSIC) in Granada, Spain. We explore how mutualistic microbes in the rhizosphere enhance plant immunity against pathogens and pests in agroecosystems.
Exciting days at the #PMS2025! Our team joined the global plant microbiome community to present new insights into microbe-induced resistance and multitrophic interactions—one talk, two posters, and plenty of great discussions. Science grows better together! 🌿🤝 @microsos.bsky.social

How do beneficial microbes help plants defend against herbivores?
Our new study in New Phytologist shows that MIR (microbe-induced resistance) coordinates direct and indirect plant defenses over time—killing herbivores early and attracting their parasitoids later.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting Giannis Stringlis from the Agricultural University of Athens, a great researcher and a very good friend of the group.

He gave an inspiring talk on “The Role of Defense Barriers in Beneficial Plant–Microbe Interactions”,

We’ve been a bit quiet on here lately… because we’ve been swamped with experiments! 🐛🌿

Spring is peak season in our lab — not just for plants, but also for the larvae we work with. When they thrive, so does our research! Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to in the greenhouses lately

🚨 Are we measuring microbiomes wrong? 🦠🔬

This study reveals the power of absolute microbial concentration measurements, moving beyond relative abundance. It also shows how sample handling and storage can introduce bias in microbiome–host studies. A must-read! 📖
