Allowances and rates frozen hitting the poor and pensioners. A terrible budget.

Sorry, keeping the thresholds and allowances frozen for 5 more years is a disgusting tax on the very poorest. The triple look increase may have mitigated that to a small extent but come on - a labour government taxing pensioners - it’s not on

In March 2021, as a pensioner with a small salary from a legacy job, I paid no tax. From April 2022 onwards I have paid an increasing amount of tax on the same income sources,which of course have increased along with inflation. With the freeze on the thresholds I will be paying more and more each yr

Once again, higher earners benefit from only paying NI contributions of 2% on earning above £50k. This is effectively a tax cut for the additional income of 6%. Why?

I am instinctively a liberal though I am moving more towards the Green Party. However, I know that my vote makes no difference in a safe Tory constituency. I voted tactically last year without success. Maybe next time I will send my vote where my conscience says.

In the first past the post system, which only works in a 2 party situation, neither LibDem nor Greens have ANY chance of forming a government, even in coalition. Where does that leave the country? Answers on the back of an envelope please.

That leaves LibDem or Green, neither of whom have much experience. I know the LibDems were in coalition with the Tories 15 years ago, but that is not power. They both do have experience leading councils with some success. However….. /cont/

The BBC’s editing of the Trump speech captured the essence of the speech. The call to act peacefully was one sentence in a 51 minute exhortation to violence.

Just putting in one line saying”be peaceful” in between the rhetoric of “march on the Capitol, I am with you, stop the steal” etc etc does not exculpate Trump. I hope the BBC does not give in to Trump’s threats. #CapitolRiot #BBC #Trump

3. I am not anti semitic. I do not equate jews with the Israeli state. Jews are people first, who happen to believe in a religion (which is not Christian).
4. I am against the actions of the Israeli state in Gaza AND the West Bank. I am against the genocide being perpetrated by the IDF.
