I was just sent the proof file for the upcoming issue of the Faroese popular science magazine Frøði. Included in this issue is my latest article on the current #AI developments in the Faroe Islands. It appears that the article is receiving top billing and a corresponding cover design.

Tror journalister, der får mulighed for at skrive den slags overskrifter, læner sig tilbage på stolen med det selvfedeste smil overhovedet.

Discovered I can use xbar (xbarapp.com) + a custom script to monitor my server's health right from the menu bar. Nerdy joy unlocked. Serverus Snape is thriving. 🧙‍♂️💻

My ancient Mac Mini is now a full-blown media server—thanks to ChatGPT! Streaming classic horror movies I’ve hoarded for years on every screen in the house. I dub thee: Serverus Snape. 🧙‍♂️🧟‍♀️ - Now on to conjure up new stuff to make with Serverus...perhaps a local LLM or something similar.

Setting up a new home server. Needed a name..

Gasp! Just learned my favorite comic creator @jordilafebre.bsky.social dropped a new book—I Am Their Silence. Brb, sprinting to the nearest bookstore like it’s a heist. 🏃‍♂️📚

Just returned from an inspiring meeting with the Demos expert group at Nordic Culture Point in #Suomenlinna, #Helsinki. We finalized funding for Nordic civil society projects launching in early 2025. Grateful to support initiatives that challenge norms and redefine possibilities for our region.

Last night I won another giveaway from @nearmintcon.bsky.social; the new tpb of Jeff the Land Shark by @kellythompson.bsky.social and @gurihiru.bsky.social – how neat is that!? This seems like the perfect book for my kids...but, not gonna lie, I'm quite fond of the little guy too.🦈

In #Copenhagen the other day.

I often return to three books in my collection: Multiple Warheads, Rain Like Hammers, and King City (by B. Graham). Graham's work is an example of style being the substance. It is a wonderful Americanization of #LigneClaire, #Mœbius, puns and sexiness. His are glorious worlds you get lost in.

As someone who does not use #Facebook, but is still forced to log in, I have been increasingly confused by the barrage of slop filling up my feed. Turns out that around 33% of the content comes from unconnected sources that I have never engaged with and have zero interest in. Mystery solved I guess.

These old pulpy #comics hit in a completely different way. This Danish Jonah Hex translation was published a couple of months after I was born, so I not sure about the nostalgia factor…but the machismo factor is decidedly there.

Wow! @nearmintcon.bsky.social sent us two massive omnibus editions of the Uncanny X-Men as part of a competition the channel held a while back! What a perfect Christmas present 🤘🏻

Been freelancing away from home the past couple months, relying on just my iPad Pro + Pencil for 90% of tasks. The rest? Heavy-duty writing on a laptop with a big monitor. It’s wild how good minimal setups have become. #FreelanceLife #TechTools

I’m rather partial to positive vandalism. “It’ll be alright” sticker on the bus stop next to my house. Obligatory #penis scribble at the bottom for good measure…

I have a small library’s worth of comics at home, but I still make good use of the local library—containing a slowly growing collection. In 2024 the best #comic or #graphicnovel I read, of which I read a fair amount, has to be Jordi Lefebre’s “Always Never”. His art just takes my breath away.

We just recorded episode #1 of our new podcast on #AI in the #FaroeIslands! 🎙️ Now it's time for editing and sound mixing—two tasks I’m approaching with the confidence of someone who’s never done this before but watched a YouTube tutorial once. Wish me luck, or better yet, wish our listeners luck. 🙃

Today #AI researchers from the University of the Faroe Islands are walking librarians from the National Library of the Faroe Islands through the initial steps of language model development. These are the initial steps towards a larger Faroese corpus and a Faroese LLM. #vitlíki

I listen to audiobooks and podcasts whenever I do chores and walk around town, which quickly adds up over an entire year. I’m partial to the zanier and somewhat offbeat offerings available. I’m aiming for 2025 being the year that I myself get into podcasting.

#Sora is not available in the #FaroeIslands yet.

The local Red Cross has an unmanned used book store where you donate a coin for each book you rescue. I’m always happy when I find #comics, and this morning I hit the jackpot! Gary Larson and Bill Watterson are some of my nostalgic favorites.

Today I’m only reading, and this might be the most cozy little office in the world-I can even make it play ambient white noise while I look out over #Tórshavn and contemplate #AI in higher education. Not a bad way to end the week…not bad at all.
