An ideal “edtech” looks like Khan Academy. I grew up watching Sal’s videos and I would genuinely pay for them. Education startups must be non-profits at the core.

I worked at an “edtech” company before and at the engineering level our drive was mostly that we are making education accessible to everyone. It was indeed motivating! But it was a for-profit business in the end. Many others have gone far beyond ethical boundaries of sales to achieve growth.
