since the side edges are never going to be in focus, you can use lower res panels there instead of a huge single screen, which hopefully would alleviate power and heat concerns

just like with traditional favoated rendering, only render the focus point at max resolution, but instead of having everything else at a fixed res, you can also progressively lower it the further you are from the focus point?
