I love Scrivener, but that's because I actually use it. The right tool is the one you will use, regardless of features, functionality, etc. (Scrivener keeps me coming back because I can see everything on one screen. Other people need different things)

Also, look no further than Canada to see how a performative downward push on presidential salaries results in an equally downward push on the quality of the people doing those jobs. Because, you know, super talented people have options.
