Candidate for Precinct 8 Representative Town Member in Walpole, MA

Massachusetts has a pretty clear history of saying no to kings and today our town, Walpole, did it again. Me and my cowbell made some noise, along with hundreds of others who are refusing to accept what the Horse Loose in a Hospital is doing to our country. @indivisible.org @boston25news.com

While our family tree has been honored to have multiple service members among its branches, none is more personal to me than PFC Jimmy Boan, after whom I’m named. He was KIA in Vietnam on Feb 24, 1966 but I try every day to continue his commitment to freedom and the values of our country.

What a wonderful read from Mark Updegrove. The timing could not be better, as the book describes how prior presidents displayed leadership and character - something that our current president completely lacks.

(Thanks for the heads up @johnavlon.bsky.social)

Thank you so much, Precinct 8! Although the vote is unofficial right now, it’s clear that you have put your faith in me to provide better representation at town meeting. More to come very soon!

A few scenes from last night’s spring town meeting. All items passed easily and there were some thoughtful comments and discussions.

I recently came across a @johnavlon.bsky.social discussion with the George W. Bush Institute from 2022. This quote from John is tremendous and even though it’s three years old, perfectly underscores why I chose to get involved in my local government.

So proud of my fellow citizens for showing up today to voice their objections.
The crowd quickly grew Saturday morning as protestors gathered around the Parkman Bandstand in Boston Common for a “Hands Off!” rally and march. Organizers said they expected 25,000 people to attend.

I was getting frustrated tonight with the lack of progress on the logo and website for my little local campaign. But seeing @booker.senate.gov on HOUR 25 of his speech put it in perspective: I only sacrificed a few hours. But at the same time, it reminded me that we have work to do. LFG.

Rachel Abrams perfectly sums up college student deportations:

“It really feels ironic that the people that are most deportable are actually people that are in the system, following the rules, going through the procedures…as opposed to the people who are undocumented.”

Visited the JFK Library & Museum last night for a gala in support of Montrose School & the amazing things they’re doing to educate our girls. But it was also inspirational for me - a first time campaigner - to see what JFK accomplished. I can’t wait to go back and spend more time with the exhibits.

Very cool moment yesterday when I received this email from the town clerk, confirming that I will be on the May 20th town ballot.

Thanks to everyone who signed my nomination papers. I look forward to sharing this journey with everyone and bringing better representation to Walpole’s Precinct 8.
