I like thoughtful surprises. After getting burned with gifts I explicitly said I didn't want, I came up with a system. I give my husband a list of gift ideas (both specific and general), and he passes them on as needed. So I have a surprise that I don't need to pretend to like.

Each recipient gets different typos, so they just need to match them to identify the leak.

One thing that's really scary is that this could impact foreign nationals who've never lived or worked in the US but are married to US citizens living abroad. They need a taxpayer identification number for the American spouse to get access to some deductions.
