..Elsie using her xiaolongbao (soup dumpling) stool! So happy that she liked it (did my vest to make it super kawaii), but even happier that she’ll be able to use it in her room!.. #woodgrainbrained

..one of Elsie’s go to meals, are soup dumplings. For her Christmas present, I made her a low table/stool that had her fave! I was able to get round wood cuts and this let me draw them in a bamboo steamer, complete with the ubiquitous, translucent cabbage leaf on the bottom.. #woodgrainbrained

..had a warped unplayable vintage 45 of the country song, “Bo Weevil” by Teresa Brewer. So busted out my #posca fine tip marker and drew an “anthonomus grandis”, otherwise known as a boll weevil. It is a southern pest that feeds on cotton plants and at one time devastated the industry.. #bricolartz

..it’s been some time since I’ve embroidered a #smallgrumpyghost felt patch. But Sophie (Emma’s childhood friend), who’s staying in the US at the moment, saw one on my shirt and found it interesting. Anyway, offered to make her one..so busted out my felt, thread and scissors! Hope she likes it!..

..that one time when I made a Buster Sword and gauntlets for a Final Fantasy 7 inspired Halloween costume! I used a wooden dowel as a handle as well as giving the cardboard extra rigidity. This was just part of a “SamuraiMecha” suit I made which I’ll post the making of later.. #cardboarddragondad

..found a discarded delivery sack and used it as a canvas. “This Will Change Everything” was painted as a satire to how folks believe that just by purchasing the “right” thing, all their trouble would disappear..their sad hopes for a “cure-all” or “magic bullet”.. #bricolartz

..while going to work near Wall St., I happened upon a Con Ed crew tearing up the street. Along with the torn up asphalt and dirt, was this railroad spike, that might have been used when trains would service that part of Manhattan. I wish we still made stuff.. #bricolartz #drawingonoldtools

..so Egon would have something to race the “Party Pig” cart with, me and Emma also make him the “Red Bird Racer”! Again, Emma made an amazing bird. Tried to make the cart look a bit like a formula 1. Was a ton of fun racing theses carts on our apartments wooden floors.. #cardboarddragondad

..when Egon was still a kid, he LOVED “Angry Birds”!! For his Birthday, one of the gifts Emma and I made, were these cute different sized pigs (made by my always amazing wife), while I made a cardboard cart for them to ride in.. #cardbaorddragondad
