DM is great if we're talking about an. embeddable video, Soundcloud, Bandcamp link, etc. (which it would need to be in order for us to share it). Otherwise, email. I'll DM you with that. Thanks!

Personal intro: I'm Elise MacDonald, a recently arrived Pittsburgher after decades in New England. I worked as a grade 5-12 educator for 20 years (concert band, jazz combos, chorus, music theory); also music journo, higher ed staffer + designated grown-up at a small music venue. Berklee alumna.

Hi Warren, I confess that we haven't included material beyond traditional Western harmony. Most of the material we've featured from Asia has been influenced by Western pop or is western-style classical music by Asian composers. However, we're eager to learn more; is it a particular interest for you?

Dozens of guest contributors from around the world have joined our primary curators over the years. They’re credited in any way they wish: “anonymous,” a BlueSky or Reddit handle, a full name, etc. We always seek to expand our list of contributors, so please share a tune if you have one in mind!

Our regular visitors are K-12 music teachers looking to augment their lesson plans; academics in the music theory and musicology fields looking for a fun diversion during a coffee break; and plenty of garden-variety music lovers who search our archive by decade, artist, or genre.

Each weekday we consider, categorize, and celebrate one modulating tune. For anyone hoping to sharpen their musical ear, we timeslate the point where a key change happens. We provide some analysis of the music theory at work — but generally avoid a full technical breakdown.

After a start on Facebook in 2011, we added a website in 2017. Our audience: music fans who adore harmonies and chord progressions -- most specifically key changes, which
@pitchfork.com calls a “harmonic dodge-and-feint … among the sweetest dopamine hits that music is capable of producing.”
