Stede was gentle when he pushed Ed on top of the bed, and Ed was on his back, gasping as Stede climbed on him and pressed his lips against his. This kiss was slow and deeper and Ed’s heart pounded against his chest with anticipation. Ed reached down to the end of his tank-top, but Stede placed his hand down on Ed’s. “Will you let me? I still want to take care of you, darling,” his brows furrowed slightly, hazel eyes pleading, and Ed had no desire to deny him. Ed lifted his arms above his head as Stede peeled off the cloth. He was slow, and gentle, as if he wasn’t careful, Ed could fall apart. It was just his shirt, but he never felt more naked with Stede on top of him. Soft hands still covered in balm, pressed and massaged Ed’s arms again, the refreshing smell spreading through Ed’s body as Stede worked down to his shoulders, his clavicle, his chest.

A text box that says, “No fucking way.” Ed’s jaw gaped, the small blue sensor arrays on the Sunwing eyed him like it was waiting for something. “Are we…” Stede glanced between Erend and Ed before he gulped, “We are not <i>flying</i> on that thing, are we?” Ed smiled broadly, looking the large Machine up and down, “Oh fuck yes!” He walked up to it and touched its neck. The Sunwing kept still as if waiting to be mounted. Ed knew about Cauldrons around the world and how those places were the origins of Machines, but finding the codes to override certain types was extremely difficult. Ed laughed. He could only imagine the stakes that were held to find the codes for a fucking Sunwing. “We’ll meet Aloy there then,” Ed nodded at Erend. Stede gasped, “Christ! Are you serious?”

Guess who I'm introducing? #Wipwednesday for FMITH
They arrived at the tavern, the area devoid of the consistent noise it held during the evening. It was odd how the only people there were Ed’s ex cellmates and Buttons, who all turned towards him and Stede when they entered. Scratch that, there were a few other people there that Ed never saw before. Jim was sitting next to two people; a big dark man with clothes made out of woven fibers, including his knitted hat. The white face paint on the Utaru’s cheeks and forehead were spotted in soft shapes that reminded Ed of reptilian skin. The other person was obviously of the Tenakth, specifically of the Desert Clan from the bold red, yellow, and black face paint completely covering her face; the black reached from her hairline to below her eyes where it ended in serrated points, the red filling the rest of the space, and the yellow on her cheeks and temporals where it spiked down like fangs. Even her armor was sharp with metal and bamboo spikes, the colors matching her paint and geometric tattoos.

guess who I'm introducing in the next chapter?
Ed finally placed his attention at the other rider on the Machine and couldn’t believe the origin of the oddest dialect he had ever heard. The man had a balding forehead with dirty blond grey hair, long enough to reach his shoulders, his beard the same length. Given the way he was dressed, he was Banuk, teal shirt with fur poking out the edges, and blue strands of fabric wrapped around his arms and waist. A simple pattern of blue wires were sewn on his shoulder, and smaller ones on the side of his forehead. Blue and white paint covered his face in triangular shapes, the facepaint of a Shaman. Ed had no idea how Stede came across a Banuk, let alone a Shaman who was willing to travel so far west from the north eastern cold mountains. What was even stranger was a small Machine perched onto the man’s head. Its funny metallic wings were folded, and watched Ed with its small blue-glowing eyes. He scanned the Machine, but the Focus only registered its name as <i>Karl</i>.

Some FMITH for #WIPWednesday
Machine attacks were not common, but they came across a herd of Grazers guarded by a few Watchers who were not happy to be interrupted. Ed had to watch the guards take down the Machines at an insanely slow pace that he couldn’t help but yawn at. “No you fuckin’ moron, stab it’s eye while its charging to shoot you!” Ed was surprised to hear Jim shout. They would later have a conversation on weak points in different Machines and Jim’s years of experience training as a Fledgling. It was the lowest rank for a hunter as they couldn’t technically be a member of the Hunters Lodge unless they gained a sponsor from a current member. “You traveled to all the hunting grounds, earned Blazing Suns from all the groundskeepers, and <i>no one</i> wanted to sponsor you?” Jim rolled their eyes, “There are not a lot of members, plus, I think the Hawks are too intimidated to sponsor me as their Thrush.”

A text saying, "Someone was running with them. An Oseram man by the looks of it. He was broad, heavy with armor held on by straps over his shoulder, his dark brown hair a mohawk with the sides shaved off and a mustache connecting to thick sideburns, leaving his chin bare. He was holding a warhammer with a smile on his face, and Ed couldn’t tell if the expression was for the excitement of catching Blackbeard or of taking down the herd of Bristlebacks. A Machine charged towards Ed during his brief distraction, and his last minute leap only avoided the face and he was shoved by the heavy metal hitting his side. He scrambled from the ground and picked up his rapier he dropped from his fall. He stood at attention, ready for the next beast. Jim and the Oseram finally arrived and both of them took their sides, choosing their targets and splitting their attacks.

“Having a rough time?” It was Lucius, sitting across from Ed. Ed lifted his face to see the Carja mirror his position. “Mm-mn.” Ed shook his head. It didn’t make sense to spew out all of his problems to a man he barely knew, especially when that man stole Stede’s apparatus. He had to remind himself that it wasn’t Lucius that reported Blackbeard to the guard though, especially with how he defended him and Stede. Lucius’ expression was sympathetic, and Ed had to look away. He remembered how Stede watched him in a similar expression when Ed cried about his past. Ed wasn’t a good person, he still wasn’t, but somehow another person besides Stede seemed worried about him. “This is the third night you have been crying,” Lucius stated, brows gently drawn together. “Psh, I wasn’t crying,” Ed wiped his nose. Lucius nodded unconvincingly, “Right.”

It was like a window through the floor as the Focus highlighted three bodies in orange below them, with two other bodies behind what Ed remembered was Lucius’ desk. Stede was right beside him, looking over his shoulder down the stairs as if he could see anything. “What do you know then? We’ve been told that the bandit, Blackbeard, entered the city under our noses. He is a dangerous man that needs to be found at all costs. Would you know where he might be?” Ed tightened his hold on his rapier, extending his other arm in front of Stede as he awaited Lucius’ confession on rooming them. “I-I have no idea,” Lucius replied. “Yeah, who even <i>is</i> Blackbeard?” the other man added.
