yeah there's definitely some stuff that's all style no substance. you'll hear a song and go "that's impressive!" but realize you felt nothing, and have nothing to remember it by other than being "good."

a lot of the best albums i've heard come from artists who can rapidly oscillate between serious, deep art and silly dancey shit (whether or not they release it all)
