These lil muskrats at the lake bring me so much joy. I mistook them for otters until I saw one on the shore with a big rat tail and frantically looked it up. I had never seen one before we started taking evening walks by the lake.

Annual make a big mess in the kitchen day! Starting flowers, sage, parsley, basil, cilantro. A little early for the last two, but I’m going to try growing it indoors.
Two 50-plug seed starting trays sit on a kitchen table. A six year old child is filling them with seed starting soil mix. Seed packets and a dirt filled bowl are also on the table. It is messy and joyful.

I baked a lovely loaf of sandwich bread. Bread baking is going to be my new “thing”, and I’m going to save $5 every month at the grocery store. Take that, capitalism!

Daydreaming about gardening in January is distinctly more fun than weeding the garden in July.

Should I try broccoli again, this time with row covers to prevent cabbage worms? Shall I start peppers, despite the fact that I don’t eat them? Is this the year that I finally like chard?!
