The biggest thanks to Kristine for being the best imaginable help with this event (including all the prep that goes into it), and the biggest thanks to the wonderful people who work so hard to make @yarncon special every year!

YarnCon this year was the best ever, and that’s saying a lot because it was already the best thing of its kind 🧶✨

Thank you to everybody who came out, everybody who checked out POOCHIPOOCHI Land, everybody who said hi, and everybody who bought stuff from me!

You can meet Shrimpy the very very long dog at YarnCon April 5+6!
This is the biggest thing I’ve knit in a long time, and I’m doing it for the best reason: because I feel like it!
Shrimpy was inspired by the dogs in my new picture book, SHORT DOG, LONG DOG, in stores now! 🐶 💕

Regarding books, these dogs say: Don’t chew ‘em, review ‘em!

If you’ve read SHORT DOG, LONG DOG and enjoyed it, I’d appreciate it very very much if you left a review of the book on its Amazon page. (You don't need to have bought it there to review.)

I dare you to knit tiny dinosaurs (or pterosaurs) and NOT immediately start playing with them. It’s an irresistible human urge!

These soaring cuties are my newest design for Knitrino, where the Ptara the Ptiny Pterodactyl pattern is now available in their portable, interactive format.

Love is in the air for two romantic pterodactyls 💕

This scene is inspired by my newest tiny dinosaur pattern, Ptara the Ptiny Pterodactyl—now available in the Knitrino app.

Because dogs come in all shapes, sizes, barks, and personalities—from huge and tiny to itchy on the head and scratchy on the hiney—they’re the perfect subjects to explore the world of antonyms.

To fit in with my series of New Year animals, it really needed the flatter face. So I tried it sideways like the others…
… and finally I felt like I achieved a snake that’s genuinely serpentine and also cute and also fits with my ongoing New Year series. Four animals down, and eight to go!
January 31, 2025 at 5:18 PM
So with a slightly heavy heart, I said goodbye to the year of the sperm and hello to year of the snake. My first redesign had the snake facing forward, with a tongue that pointed out. But then, that made it just a snake.
January 31, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Now, I really don’t have anything against sperm. They’re pretty cool, and also pretty cute! But I didn’t want confusion about my messaging here, when I’m only trying to embrace the fun and optimism of Chinese zodiac animals.
January 31, 2025 at 5:18 PM
And a little behind-the-scenes story. The snake that debuted this week is actual the second version—this pic shows the original. I loved my upright-sitting snakes… but it was brought to my attention that when stretched out, they resembled cute little sperms more than anything else. 😬
