I don't know if this will help...
But usually I use a simple shape like a circle/square/organic/silhouette for the base. Then add some secondary elements like patterns/doodles.

Always rework my model in the midway. Every time I make my new model, I always come up with new drawing techniques in my other artworks and I also want to implement it in my model, which most of the time changes it completely.

Btw, at the event, I thought it was Collei when we searched for the animals in the Sumeru Forest area... a bit surprised when it was actually Chiori in the end.
