It's unfortunate the custom ROM scene is quickly dying other than a few projects. You may be able to find a custom ROM for your phone, but support is generally lacklustre. Brave was great, but it's still chromium under the hood so I decided to switch. I hope your switching goes well!

I agree with this forsure. 1 is always better than 0 in terms of expanding your knowledge.

If you're a new Linux user I will 100% always shill Fedora 📢📢📢

In regards to degoogling, I use Lineage on my phone, works well, you do still rely on some Google support. If you are more hardcore Graphene is great, just less convenient. Librewolf on Linux and ironwolf on Android are both what I use. Although some tweaking is necessary for speed.

I agree with this mostly, but there are better and worse in most fork scenarios. I.e Ubuntu is Debian if it taught you bad habits, and Manjaro being arch with extra problems. Although I think most ppl who are vocal on distro-superiority generally don't know what they're talking about.

I've had a few people in my social circle do the same. Mostly because of the ever mounting hardware "security" requirements for modern games and such. I hope this lights a fire under Microsoft to be more user focused.

The debian circle of life is great. Usually you'll start on deb or Ubuntu, switch to something else, then eventually come back because of how beautifully stable it is. If my arch install ever dies, or pisses me off enough for some reason, I know I'm going back to deb

The systemd hate is so forced. Ppl who espouse runit propaganda are just old and wrinkly.

Lenovo has some good options, I'm a diehard linux guy but I still just run macos on my m2 air. I think we're still quite far away from a truly competetive experience.

Debian is absolutely a noob friendly system. Not arch though. Also Ubuntu is based off debian.

You should definitely try! It's fun even just to play around. But
.. whatever you do, NEVER listen to the Linux community. Wiki pages are 100x less annoying and biased. :)

So you know how Netflix is a frontend for movies? Retroarch is a frontend for emulators. It's really intuitive and highly customizable. I'd definitely say it's worth taking a look at.

I just don't know how much I believe it though, if 3% of steams users are on Linux. How much of them are A: Active and playing Apex Legends, and B: Actively cheating as well. I personally believe KBAC is a thinly veiled data phishing tactic. But ultimately I could just be uncharitable.

It was some insane whiplash when Apex Legends just randomly added kernel level anticheat one day despite it pandering to the Steamdeck on launch. No build up, just a week between announcement and implementation.
