18: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero! It's been awhile since I played it, but I mainlined it front to back over a few weeks and it was just a wonderful experience. Lovely art style, adorable characters, fun mechanics!
(I've tried Seven Sirens but I sadly couldn't get into it as much)

18: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero! It's been awhile since I played it, but I mainlined it front to back over a few weeks and it was just a wonderful experience. Lovely art style, adorable characters, fun mechanics!

17: Sky Force Reloaded! I really enjoy scrolling SHMUPS that aren't total bullet hells, and this one strikes a good balance. Really good progression system too; if you're having trouble, just work on upgrading your ship some more then come back and kick some ass!

16: Left 4 Dead! Just like Half-Life, I don't know what I could say that hasn't already been said. It's just... damn it, it's really fun to shoot zombies! The colourful characters, great level design and director AI just make it all that much better.

15: RollerCoaster Tycoon! I'm a huge coaster fangirl and I love theme parks, so I've always loved building my own... but I never understood its rules as a kid. Revisiting it as an adult with the open-source OpenRCT2 project, I've learned how to beat the scenarios and I'm loving it all over again!

13: Railroader! A perfect balance of train sim and management sim, kind of like an American Truck Sim for railfans. Has everything from running mainline trains and switching cars at industries to maintaining equipment and expanding the pre-built rail network. Another great "fym it's 3 AM" simulator.

11: Half-Life! I don't know what I can say about these games that hasn't already been said. The evironmental storytelling, the terror of the resonance cascade incident, and the sense of dread of the Combine's iron-fisted rule all come together to make some truly excellent story shooters.
