Triple Dickhead (Moby 🐳, 🎸 Dale, PK 🛸) and erstwhile slacker
This may seem trivial, but I heartily approve of going after corruption at every level of people who assist the destruction of our national heritage, both in ideal and in this case literal form. Erasing the standards of public life extends to professional ethics.

"Toonces the Driving Cat" came up in conversation, which lead to YouTube, and now my 18 year old is laughing uncontrollably on the couch, reloading the clips for the third time.

Nothing like being able to introduce your kids to the classics.

And of course model civility from the top by having your boss, the President of the United States, constantly insult people and insist on having his way or else.

After you've been frisked by TSA and forced to take off your belt and shoes, been herded like cattle onto the plane, forced into a seat a quarter smaller than during the age of travel when people dressed up, forced to sit through a multi hour delay, then have your connection canceled and have to
Duffy: "Trump talks about the golden age of transportation. But the golden age in transportation truly begins with you ... People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly ... so we want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season: Help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

I'd be more wistful about John Oliver's show winding down, except I've never seen it, because HBO costs $$$ and always has. I sort of wonder the demographic the show was aimed at.

Seen clips on YouTube, of course.

Oliver will always be Professor Ian Duncan to me...

I genuinely thought at first this headline was about the Tablets sold by the large internet retailing company and had to read the lede twice before my brain clicked on.

That is a bad sign. Black Friday advertising seeping through.

This is the not-so-hidden agenda with these ICE sweeps: they're trying to destroy communities, and families, and disrupt entire populations. Beyond the fact it's inhumane and unjust and illegal -- it's terrible economics, since cratering neighborhood commerce has a huge ripple effect.
Even though Border Patrol Cmdr. Greg Bovino and many of his agents left Chicago, some small business owners in predominantly Latino neighborhoods say their clientele has yet to fully return.

do you know what they call delivering a one-sided proposal that heavily -- nay, completely -- favors one side, and giving the party a short deadline to which to respond to it?

An ultimatum.

The President of the United States is delivering an ultimatum to Ukraine.

Anybody else out there using the Black Friday week deals to shop for used books?

Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? Buehler?

Idea for one of those "Then and Now" gifts, like those newspaper reproductions you can order for the day somebody was born.

It would be an explanation of various #physics #astronomy, and #cosmology questions or concepts - what was believed when the person was born and what the consensus is now.

The single greatest piece of critical analysis I have ever read:

Woody Wood on the Nancy comic strip:

"By the time you decided not to read it, you already had."

Tim Cook at the Murder's Banquet tonight.

Don't tell me Apple hasn't become what it was allegedly warning against in 1984.

They're the bad guys now.

Another way of describing this is, if it were possible, it would be spending a trillion dollars on buying US assets and now they'd be owned by foreigners.
Fox News credulously reports that "the Saudis now say their investment pledge in the US will be increased to $1 trillion." THE ENTIRE GDP OF SAUDI ARABIA IS $1.1 TRILLION, so this is total nonsense.

Somebody told him 100 Republicans were going to vote for it, but that some Senators would prevent it from going to the floor so the files will never be released, so now he's going to pretend it was his idea all along.

This is a small thread on the market inefficiencies of Amazon.

Take at look at these "Dementia Clocks". There's three more screens just like this -- all the same model of clock, each with one of those indecipherable brand names.

I wonder how many votes we are from an impeachment resolution, now that the orange muffinhead has decided to go mental on MTG. With Massey I'd make it as 216-217, not counting feckless Democrats who don't want to go there again. That's a one-vote margin of error.

nah, they're counting on the fact that Bondi had a thousand FBI agents working on scrubbing the files and destroying evidence.

The previous use of the word "bespoke" was the past tense of "bespeak", a lovely archaicism. I was nevertheless surprised to see the earliest printed reference with the modern meaning of "custom" cited in 1869.

There's a hundred trillion dollars of fossil fuel assets in the ground that will be worthless if we make the transformation to clean energy and save the planet. The money-grubbers who own all this are behind Putin, they're behind Tr*mp, they're behind the crap in the Middle East.

New York AG James said she's received complaints of stores in her state refusing EBT cards and has already sent out several cease and desist letters. Stores are not allowed to refuse SNAP benefits. If this happens to you, call the AG's hotline to report at 1-800-771-7755.
