The only people who are truly “lonely” are those who have internalized that they are unloveable. If you can’t trust that the love of significant others is genuine, that has a way of informing your worldview as well as your own self image.

My theory for the new Avatar is that Korra opening a 3rd spirit portal threw the two worlds out of balance and she probably opened a 4th one to restore balance but instead it brought the worlds so close that they overlapped to the point there were only 7 places left humans could live.
