In fact, like all other workers, immigrants contribute to Social Security.

Even if they will not become eligible for benefits, immigrants improve the solvency of a program that provides almost all workers with a foundation of income for their retirement.

Then Trump started up on immigrants and Social Security--another well-worn tapestry of falsehoods.

In fact, only U.S. citizens and some lawfully present non-citizens may receive Social Security benefits. And only lawfully present immigrants can get SSNs. (See link above.)

In fact, 0.1% of Social Security benefits are paid to people over age 100, exactly the share of centenarians you'd expect. SSA has long had rigorous protocols to stop payments to beneficiaries who die.

Another way Trump is hurting Social Security's finances is driving up inflation. Contrary to what he said in the Oval, government figures just revealed inflation is steadily rising & the CPI is 2.7% higher than it was a year ago.

This will cost Social Security in the form of higher COLAs.

By reducing immigration and deporting immigrants, the Trump Administration is further hurting Social Security’s finances.

Net migration hit zero this year--again, meaning fewer workers contributing to Social Security.
