That wasn't the answer the last time Liverpool looked hopeless a year after winning the league. A year later they nearly won it all, with the same manager.

In a season where everyone has been available the whole time, it's a lot more likely. But both RBs and both CFs have been out for significant periods. I also don't think we realise how little training time they get when playing every 3 days - travel and recovery take up most of the time.

Grav definitely worked as a DM last year, and still can be. I think he's missing having as elite a passer as Trent nearby. He can do the defensive work, and the 2nd balls part is always the job of more than one man. The positioning feels like it needs adjusting

I think both of those points are connected, and related to the positioning of our players. There are often big gaps between defence and attack, and we're often outnumbered in the middle third. Returning to a double pivot that stays a bit deeper and more centrally would help both areas

The Ibou thing is odd, because it looked like we didn't have a clue when he had the ball, but 40% of his passes went to the midfield 3 or Salah. He wasn't as much of a black hole as it seemed.
I think the attack has a plan, it's more that the players are struggling to implement it

Curious to hear people's thoughts: What's Liverpool’s most urgent issue right now?

In fairness, I'm not sure many would have predicted Liverpool’s tactics the last time they came to the Etihad, so I wouldn't say Slot is too predictable. You could argue there's been too many twists and tweaks this season.

Watch the full breakdown and join the debate: how confident are you ahead of the Etihad?

We might have to have an official 'Beasley's Stat of the week' at this rate 😂

Bayern look in very good shape!

Oh I remember both of those things only too well...

Liverpool lost that game against Burnley, didn't they? Those were some really dark days
