Aftermath is solid, but it’s a subscription site. These days, though, I think for the most part you get what you pay for.

Whatever it is, I hope that it ends up being, in the manner of one Dabney Wharton Coleman, first rate!

The recent Target sale was a good one for fans of Drew McWeeny commentaries. Picked up both Abigail and The Wolfman (2010).

I was a 13-year old kid living in a tiny town in northern MN that fall. I’ve always been wary of looking back at that series with rose colored glasses as a result, but if David Simon agrees that it was the greatest, then who am I to argue?

For something a bit more grounded, might I suggest shop.albatrossfunnybooks.com/products/did... by the great @eric-powell-comics.bsky.social and Harold Schechter (is he on here?). Excellent stuff.

Priest was at FanExpo Denver here a month or so ago and I had the privilege of chatting with him for a decent little while. There’s really no question that the MCU Wakanda is his Wakanda, and he should really be set for life, not talking to a schmuck like me at a con.

I’ll never forget picking up the old Olympian TPB copy of Cursed Pirate Girl from the shelf at the Union Square Forbidden Planet and being blown away by it. Turns out, once in a while you CAN judge a book by its cover. Happy birthday to Mr. Bastian!

I once had “Britney’s Silver Can” stuck in my head for about 6 straight weeks, so I figured - why not roll that die again? And lo and behold, “Ghost Walker” is full of ear-worms! Nice record, sir!

Am I incorrect, or does your shirt seem to indicate that you are - in some way, shape, or form - a Non-Compliant sort of an individual?

Like as if you were to call Michael Knight “Knight Rider” at all times. Except in this case it makes sense. I can see that.

I don’t know if “Sex Education” counts as an American show or a British show (or somehow both?), but that feels to me like the most recent semi-equivalent. Also just a great show in its own right.

I submit that no one in the history of rock and roll has had a better scream than Kim Shattuck. There might could be some people who could qualify as an equal, but none better. I miss her.

A show about kind but imperfect people who are good at their jobs and acting in the public good is an absolute balm for the soul right now. It would be an excellent show at any time, but right now? Thursdays can’t come around quickly enough.
