OK!
And yet, many many content creators are thriving. Perhaps without “ethical standards”, but they’re making money.

I wish you all the best.

The bottom line is you’re running a business, and a business that you say is losing subscribers and revenue. If you believe that it is worth losing it all on principles - fair enough. That’s your decision. But I think it would be a pity.
By the way… do you think bluesky is not collecting your data?

My surgeon said freehand sleeve resection was the best method for adult circumcision. As he’s the expert, I deferred to his better judgement

You could use a simpler interface, which still gives your subscribers easy access to your content, and gives you more free time to produce more content rather than coding? Ask yourself - what do your users value more… the content or the interface?

I’m sure when you started your site there were probably few options other than to do it yourself. But now there are many providers who can take care of your coding, allowing you to focus on your content - which is, after all, what you’re really all about.

I can see your website is a labour of love. But if you’re struggling with coding and time constraints which prevent giving users the experience you want to provide, have you considered moving to another platform? There are so many options these days.

While I admire your honesty, I wonder whether it’s smart to tell would-be subscribers that you’re asking them to pay for a website that may or may not be there in the future? If you were a potential subscriber… would you part with your money? Honestly?

On the subject of mailing lists - I think most people prefer shorter, snappier forms of news and updates. I’m much more likely to click through an Instagram story than I am from an email mailing. I think most will delete emails with too much text - no one has time to read all that.

When you are a small business and you’re just breaking even, you cannot afford to take a stance, however principled, that risks alienating potential subscribers. Like it or not, some of your subscribers probably didn’t vote as you did - but they are still valuable subscribers.

I’m not from the US, so I don’t have an opinion about politics over there. And quite frankly, I don’t care about politics when I’m horny, searching for rubber content and deciding where to spend my money! It’s the last thing on my mind, and it can even be turn off.

And while I’m no fan of Elon Musk, I still use that platform because that’s where I find the creators, users, content and interactions I want. Like everyone, I go to where the content is or most likely to be.

I’m sad to read this, as rubberzone (or rubbermen as it then was) was one of the first sites I ever subscribed to. Being principled is all very well, but comes with many risks - you’ve chosen to leave 2 major social media platforms which represented and reached the majority of your online followers

Partly medical (I had a tight frenulum) and partly aesthetics — I preferred the look.
