I’ll be sad to see Like A Prayer go. It’s a very good album which has grown on me a lot over the course of this tournament. Wouldn’t mind seeing it in the final 8, but not over PB.

Every time Disintegration comes around in the tournament and I give it another full listen I come to the same conclusion: this is it. This is the best album of 1989.

I’m so used to tuning out Love Shack at weddings and stuff that I never really appreciated how hard it goes at the end there. When you’re just out walking around with headphones in and that bang bang bang on the door part starts up it’s actually quite exhilarating.

My vote goes to Lou……der Than Love

My first year of college too, in fact my first day! They sent us all home.

Pat Sajak and Madonna

Lou Reed knocked out The Marshall Mathers LP in the first round of the 2000 tournament. That alone is reason enough to give him my vote.

I forgot to vote yesterday and would have voted Mudhoney! Relieved they lost by two and not by one or I’d be really mad at myself.

Solid final 8! The only glaring omission to me is Voodoo. Not sure what I’d swap out for it, probably Modest Mouse.

Finally cast my vote, after much deliberation and agony, since neither of these should be going home yet. Ended up asking myself, if this were the final round of the tournament, who would I vote for then? And realized that ultimately I’d be pushing for Ghost to take it all.

One of these incredible albums goes home but Grandaddy moves on? The Sophtware Slump???

Crazy that even this otherwise tame and inoffensive J5 album still manages to slip in some overt homophobia. Seems like it was inescapable in the hip hop of that era sadly. (Although I don’t think Stankonia has any.)

I really want Elastica to have the better album here, but no matter how many times I run the numbers the math just doesn’t work out. Rated R is objectively better, and as a conscientious Best Album citizen I am obligated to vote for it.

I just noticed The Rising Tide shares two song titles in common with Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy (Rain Song and The Ocean).

Round 2 has been easier than Round 1 for the most part. Lots of albums that just barely squeaked through the first time around going up against titans now. I quite liked Red Dirt Girl and enjoyed the chance to listen to it again, but no way it’s getting my vote over YLT.

If I could go back and change one vote from Round 1, I would’ve voted for Linkin Park over Cat Power. Listening to The Covers Record again now, my error is apparent. This shit sucks man. I don’t think I like a single song.

I was gung-ho for Lou Reed in the first round because I really wanted Eminem to lose. This time around, listening with a more sober head unclouded by personal bias, I’m finding Ecstasy a little bland. And I think Johnny Cash really nails a few of these covers. One is actually a good song?? Who knew.

Planned on giving my vote to Broadcast, which I liked much better during Round 1, but after listening to both again this morning I found the Goldfrapp was hitting much more for me. Maybe just the mood I was in, but it’s getting my vote today instead.

Avalanches belong in the final four if you ask me

I guess on the plus side I won’t have to choose between Quas and Stankonia next round

This Death Cab album is among my three least favourite of those remaining in the tournament, along with Smog and Idlewild. And Madlib is a serious contender for my personal favourite artist of the century. So I’m voting with extreme prejudice today.

What a bummer of a match! So many albums this week where I really couldn’t care less if they live or die, and here we have two of the best albums in the whole tournament. Gotta vote Stankonia, but Mountains really deserves to go another round or two.

My roommate in college only liked three things, Pink Floyd, Tool, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. So I’ve developed an aversion, probably unfairly, to all of those things, but especially Tool, and ESPECIALLY Maynard’s voice. I find it even more grating here, so it’s Elastica for me.

I’m not able to listen to it via either of the links you posted. YouTube says the video is unavailable and Spotify only lets me sample a couple of tracks. Thinking maybe because I’m in Canada? This might end up being the only album in the tournament I don’t hear 😟

Agree with others saying, please do what you need for yourself, but I would love to see these tournaments continue. This is my favourite community on the internet and the only one I actively participate in with any regularity.
