@mnemonick.bsky.social
IT / AV guy from before the dawn of the internet, grew up with technology (for better *and* worse, lol).
Fair warning: I post *extremely* infrequently because I am a curmudgeon (love that word) and a certified Internet Hermit!
Also, I swear.
Like, a lot
If only! Then I'd be inhabiting the body of some teenage hunk instead of this aging, wrinkled husk 😆

I ...

It's like the memes just write themselves 😆

Yes! That story was a very pleasant surprise when I discovered it (possibly recommenced by io9 iirc).

Here is a name for you:

Kim Stanley Robinson

Pick ANY book(s) authored by this relentlessly optimistic humanist!

Reed's 'Extra' Ginger Beer is freaking amazing stuff!

50 years on, these both find their way into my playlist on a regular basis!

This prompted a quick dive into album releases for 1977; a LOT of great music came out that year! And I bought a TON of it. 😁
I chose two very different albums:
Talking Heads '77 (their debut) and Exodus by Bob Marley and The Wailers.
Both were amazing introductions to new (to me) styles of music.

While they never did an N.P.U., they did at least manage to find a Nazi planet 😉

Ah, now I see how the riotous vegetative explosion of the "City of Roses" inspired the Southern Reach trilogy. How do you survive in that trackless wilderness?

"brunchlords"

I LOVE IT. I'll be repurposing and expanding it in posts from now on!
E.G., "That guy? He's a fuckin' 3 Martini brunchlord."

At least this scandal's moving faster than Watergate did 🙄
March 26, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Nope. Trust me, I've read 'em all *multiple times* and I don't recall SecUnit referring to itself as any gender at any time.
I still kinda got a 'female' vibe from the first one, but I knew that was me reading into the text.
Well, that and the gratuitous amount of snark. 😁

Unidentified, masked THUGS are abducting law-abiding people off the streets.
IN AMERICA.
Please also focus on that, Senator!

Lol, hope he got a message from the locals saying "Feel free to visit, but don't expect a red carpet or a welcoming delegation - in fact, you should prepare for 'additional screening' upon arrival."
March 26, 2025 at 4:04 PM
It used to be!
Back when it meant "filled with awe." Then its meaning shifted to "unpleasant" and the 'awe' didn't make sense any longer.

No, Canada! 😯 You were supposed to be the *sane* neighbors to our north!
