The turn win limit in my play seems to be more of a “well my deck didn’t win by turn 4 so it’s not a bracket 4.”

I’d also love to see a bracket between 2/3 to give a space for budget brews to live. Decoupling precons from the bracket system hasn’t been enough in my experience.

Upvoted, thanks!

Making these changes will help protect new players, and (poorer) budget brewers from being stomped on by their friends (I speak from experience).

Thanks again, Gavin. Cheers!

2. Korvold, Voja, Edgar, Atraxa are most likely never going to land in a bracket 2 list, but that hasn’t stopped me from seeing those considered that way! This is another reason why I think it is important to still label legendaries as game changers. You can build a 3 with these, but not a 2.

1. There needs to be a bracket between 2 and 3. (Or 3 needs to be bumped to 4, etc). Most people brewing a deck without GC’s, even if it’s budget, will land at something that is stronger than a precon but not quite a 3. This distinction in intent is important.

Actually I do have one more thought I wanted to share! I do think bracket 2 should stay as precons/decks at a similar power level. Precons are the easiest way to get into magic, and new players should be protected to be eased into the game. I think a couple of changes need to be made to help.

Thanks again for everything! Hope that, if you do read this, you have an incredible rest of your day.

Yes having game changers as a list helps, but I can’t afford to add a deflecting swat to any of my decks. So im stuck playing lower tier 3 decks against someone who might have those cards that they can cast for free.

There needs to be a tier between 2 and 3, and it’s ok if the difference is no GCs

The bracket system should help everyone play on a level field, so ignoring insane commanders doesn’t protect newer (or poorer) players.

I also wanted to add that I’d love for a bracket between 2 and 3. A lot of decks I play are budget, upgraded precons without game changers.

- Re: adding commanders to the GC list. I think this is OK to do. Inherently powerful commanders can be oppressive. Voja, Korvold, Edgar, etc.

It doesn’t make them unplayable, it just helps people recognize that maybe these cards aren’t great to play with a person who has a slightly upgraded precon

- In general I think some expensive cards should be looked at being added. Not everyone has a huge budget for MTG. Cards like Sheoldred, The Apocolypse are unobtainable and extremely powerful.

- Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos should absolutely be game changers. They aren’t hard to set up in the right list, and can keep players from playing. In general I’m not crazy about staxx, so I have a bias. But I think cards that lock players out should be treated as a GC. Commander is casual.

- Mana Drain is powerful and out of reach for a lot of commander players. In a lot of cases, it is a best in class card. It is directly better than Counter Spell, and most other counters. It is absolutely a game changer.

I wanted to give some quick feedback based on the cards being monitored to add onto the list:

- any free spell (that is also costly, money wise) should stay on the list. Force of Will should absolutely be a Game Changer.
- Farewell is a huge reset. Six mana is a lot and nothing all at once.

Fingers crossed! The tariffs are hitting MTG in Canada hard. Thanks for doing the giveaway!

Thanks, this got the search working!

This is insane. I was going to buy into this set but if the precons are marked up that high, there’s no way. Thats collector precon prices.

I’ll buy something else. LOL.
