This is the bill you get, by the way, when Congress is gerrymandered sufficiently that members fear primary challenges from the right more than facing general election voters.
The thing I can’t get over is this bill makes life better in America for almost no one. It almost solely benefits billionaires and oil companies. Almost every other American will be worse off, some direly so.

It's hard not to be utterly exhausted. But this is the work.
Trump to Bukele on Salvadoran concentration camps: “Home-growns are next. You’re going to have to build about five more places.”

Fulbrights changed my life. Set me up to be a US and global citizen.
We're not going to balance the budget by cutting Fulbrights, but we will short-circuit the careers of our next generation of scholars and artists. There are a thousand reasons to be outraged, and this is another one. Call your representatives. Tell them how destructive this is.
Just got an email from the Fulbright Association. As of right now, funding has been cut off to 12,500 US citizens currently abroad and and more than 7,400 foreigner scholars and students in the United States

"in summer, the memory of him is strongest, returning not in details, but in a kind of pressure on my consciousness, the way liquid in a barometer signals a storm."

Inspiring books by Black authors. Happy Black history month.

Popped up to Mpls to listen to writers incl Hill read their work. Check out blues of Bemidji and his migrations .

Good to be in a room full of writers & readers reminding ourselves what power & community beauty & truth telling create.
