I sorta liked @petebuttigieg.bsky.social in 2020, but was concerned about his level of age and experience.

Now I'm seeing him pushing himself out there already clearly with an eye on '28. I think the that's a great start and I'm ready to get onboard.

I can only "play" at farming because of my day job and what it allowed my family to afford, but even those inheriting land now are barely scraping by.

Unless we modify so many things in our policies we're all going to watch private equity take over more and more aspects of our lives.

I commend him for facing the situation head on, doing what he could for them and pursuing their mother's release.

This is so very shameful, and traumatic to the children, but if their mother couldn't identify anyone else to care for them it's best they are with her.

I know how elementary kids view their school leaders and can only barely begin to imagine how difficult it was for Principal Jason Kuhlman, the unnamed nurse, and others to bring these children to Whipple.

Their presence likely was steading as best it could be in this tragic situation.

We're tricky that way.

And there's rarely even any consistency in what is "left" or "right".

I have no doubt that an institutionally racist organization did shitty racist things even under the Obama administration.

Because we had not yet "learned" that the president is effectively King, he had fairly limited power to change it and made political choices on how aggressive to be at reform.

Exactly. My other reply contains my aligned thoughts.

Pretzel logic is too kind. Pretzels have continuity and a path they follow. It's just spouting whatever unrelated nonsense scores points in the moment.

We need to follow our own constitutional process and update our laws. Focus on ending the creation of an intentional underclass locked in serfdom and give people workplace protection, job portability (h1b anyone?) and a path to citizenship.

It's a drastically lesser sort of wrong, but would still be wrong had the Obama administration chosen not enforce them at all.

We have immigration laws.

It's profoundly wrong to enforce them with wanton cruelty and violence, especially towards those with only administrative violations.
