At about the halfway point of this academic year, I'd like to remind you that there is a book about how to provide inclusive education to students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. I wrote it with Laura Balogh. #inclusion
@onthemedia.bsky.social I guess I'm pretty dependent on your show! I'm kind of struggling with there not being a new episode last night/so far this weekend. What's going on?

I watched episode 2 of #Adolescence last night, and I wrote a short piece about it today. -How and why teachers and school staff should take school safety personally.

I am proud to announce that I have no plans to acquire a doctorate!

I’ve thought about it a fair amount. A doctorate might offer me some competitive advantage in the fields of consulting and teaching. Then again, it might not.

Question:

Even if habeas corpus and due process were in place, what about the problem of removing people directly to incarceration in a concentration camp?

What legal issues, if any, does that raise?

-Certainly raises fundamental human rights issues.

Why Due Process and Habeas Corpus Are Central to the Trump’sDeportation Cases
Two concepts — due process and habeas corpus — are central to cases challenging the Trump administration’s deportations. Here’s what they mean and why they matter.

Stop calling it deporting, so MAYBE more Americans will get it. "Deporting" is sending someone back, after due process, to the country they came from, where they arrive a free person. This is human trafficking to a foreign torture prison for the rest of their lives. GET THE LANGUAGE RIGHT.

Not that it really matters, but I'm going to stop posting here. Someone let me know if things pick up on bluesky as far as communities around #education, mental health, #inclusion, and school counseling! I'll revisit it down the road too, if bluesky continues to do broadly well. Thanks

You know, I certainly appreciate the concept and existence of bluesky. But, at a certain point, like I did with Mastadon, I just have face that I am wasting my time posting here because of the lack of engagement.

On Sunday, May 4th I'll be providing an online learning session where you can earn CEs, through the American Group Psychotherapy Association. Groups are a very popular form of providing counseling in schools.

On the Recent Executive Order Regarding Education
I have read the January 29th, 2025 executive order titled “Ending Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling.” It prints out at 10 pages. The image that comes to mind when I recall reading it is a firehose o…

Thoughtful and non-snarky answers only please: Why are adjunct professors (who do the majority of the actual work required to provide the university's service) paid so poorly, while at the same time higher education is notoriously expensive?

Parent group is a psychotherapy group where the members are parents, with a shared interest in using the group to discuss their parenting experience. Discussion ranges from practical plans to explorations of how our life experiences have informed our parenting.
December 18, 2024 at 2:57 AM
I'm launching a weekly parent group on March 12th. The group will meet in Porter Square on Wednesdays from 9:00am to 10:15am.

When I say parents, I'm including anyone in a role where they are doing the work people mean when they say "parenting."
