19세기 중반 ~ 20세기 초 사이에 주로 사용 된 구두 커버.

당시 도시는 비포장 도로에 말과 마차를 이용한 교통수단을 이용했기 때문에 오염(먼지나 진흙, 마분)에 옷과 구두가 더려워지기 쉬웠어요.

이 때문에 구두와 바지 밑단, 양말등을 보호하는 구두 커버가 필요해졌고, 자연스럽게 유럽 상류층 남성 복식 문화에서 자연 발생했습니다. 단정함과 함께 계급을 나타내는 아이템이 되었죠.
