One of my goals is to make the first chapter of a comic—the text has been written for a while now, and I even have a rough storyboard, but... but, I just don't have the energy or time.

There are many such stories, and there will be more. And the bottom line is, the worst is yet to come—because prisoners were sent to the front, and they return not to prison, but to civilians.

My friend then lived with his aunt and uncle, but within a year, he started using drugs and died.

2) The most horrific. My best friend's father was in the Soviet–Afghan War. Good father and a very close-knit family. But one summer day, something went wrong in his head and he shot his wife, then jumped out of a window, but survived. Then he jumped out of a hospital window... for end.

1) The first is probably the most harmless. A young 19-year-old man was drafted into the Chechen campaign as a sniper. He returned with gray hair. The reason: while serving as a sniper, he saw his friend step on a mine. Upon returning home, he and his girlfriend died in a motorcycle accident.

And I have two stories from personal experience. Both involve my friends, the Second Chechen War (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_...) and the Soviet–Afghan War (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet%...).

By the way, in Russia there's no social support for returning soldiers—they just come back, there's no work for them, they drink heavily, and that's what we have. Many have enormous psychological problems.

I remember 2018—Russia hosted the World Cup. People came from all over the world—it was a month of celebration, friendship, and fun. Many people learned about Russians not from TV or internet, but IRL. We all walked around Moscow at night, drank beer, and watched football. It was a great time.

Over the past couple of days, we've had a bunch of services blocked here (WhatsApp, FaceTime, Roblox, and others). And amid the mass pressure to switch to the state-run messaging app - Telegram will likely be blocked soon too. Plus, ISPs have learned to block VPNs, something even China doesn't do.
