I could try to force myself to still go, but I’m fully aware of how bad of an idea that is. I may not be able to get my money back for my hotel booking, though.

One of my favorite things as an adult is watching white people stumble over themselves when they try to explain why they have no black friends. My fave was my ex who said “I grew up in Mars, PA” as his reason, but at the time, he was 30 living in Lawrenceville.

PLUS: I didn’t knowingly try it. If two of my exes would’ve told me about the lack of black people in their personal lives, I would’ve had additional info to skip dating both of them entirely.

When someone, but especially a white person shows a clear lack of both black people and people of color in their lives, I have very little desire to be the single exception. Tried that before, hated it.
