I work a lot with student interns and seeing that moment when they realize that librarianship is for them is truly gratifying. I always joke that I'm trying to build an army of librarians. We need motivated and passionate youth to keep us going as we see funding cuts come our way.

I feel the same. I'm constantly trying to encourage the young people who are just entering into it. It can be stressful and thankless work sometimes. If we want libraries to survive in the long run, we need to support those who will one day take over the reigns.

As a librarian, I couldn't agree more! It's not just about the books, we work hard to build community and provide services to our communities. Attend library programs and events, come by and just hang out. Who knows, the library could become your "third place."
