Nobody should live in fear because of their identity.

The word ‘Alliance’ is in our name for a reason; we are built on inclusivity, solidarity, and collective strength. Together, we must combat hatred and strive towards an equitable society where everyone is safe, respected, and cared for.

We have been particularly horrified by reports of women and birthing people being directly targeted in counter-protests and online, including the racism directed at members of our own community who work tirelessly to create safe spaces for vulnerable families impacted by perinatal mental illness.

As last week’s MBRRACE-UK report highlighted, improving safety means more than preventing physical harm. If we are serious about safer maternity care, mental health must be treated on equal footing with physical safety. Every woman and birthing person deserves compassionate, safe, and holistic care.
