I’m thrilled that Kate Bush’s “Experiment IV” is back on streaming, but the music video is a whole terrifying meal. It’s like a 5-minute Stranger Things ancestor.

It was just one of those days when I, the choir I road manage, and 200 strangers ended up singing deep listening pioneer Pauline Oliveros's "The Tuning Meditation" with Grammy-nominated conductor Christopher Rountree…with no planning whatsoever. It was glorious!

Come celebrate Women’s History Month with my talk “𝐔𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜,” March 27 at Lafayette Library. It’s a humorous historical talk that reveals the women nudged to the margins of music history.

“Beatles ’64” is the first documentary I’ve seen that shows Beatlemania through a non-white lens. From period footage of Black & Latino fans through current chats with Ron Isley & Smokey Robinson, it captures people of color’s unique take on The Fab Four.

Tonight’s question at the gig: what bands changed drummers after their breakthrough yet didn’t fall off commercially or critically? We came up with Pearl Jam (3 over first 4 records) and The Cure (Lol Tolhurst was the first but Boris Williams was on “Disintegration”, among others. Anyone else?
