Middle school French teacher who's all about thematic units & proficiency. ACTFL TOY 2020. NBCT. My thematic units shared here: https://mmeblouwolff.weebly.com/
One of my favorite things is learning from someone else how to improve on an idea. My students are already familiar with Beyoncé as our heuristic to remember the French accent aigu, but the tipped hat is next level! Thank you Erin Fell for a great presentation on Accommodations at #ACTFL! #langchat

Just had my best ever French 6 class with a very bouncy group on a Friday afternoon!? This game really builds focus and listening in my experience. Pictures (to print as thumbnails and place in plastic sleeves here): docs.google.com/presentation... #langchat #fle #Frenchteachers

We did it! French 6 students finally know enough French to write postcards to their ePals in the French Alps! #langchat #fle

Mike Johnson refuses to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva — because her vote could force the House to release the Epstein Files. The GOP is doing everything they can to keep Trump's Epstein cover-up going.

Trying to cement another best practice into my repertoire this year. Ss said these were tough, which was my goal. They were shocked when I explained that hard Qs are actually better for retrieval! @retrievelearn.bsky.social #langchat

A student whose home language is French is frustrated by their lower score on writing assessments. I'm hoping studying these exemplars will help. How do you build your collection of exemplars and how do you use them with students? #langchat

When you do the thing you know you should do but never manage to actually do (studying exemplars 🥇)... next thing you know, I'll be leaving time for exit tickets ⏰!!! #langchat

Still learning how to train 6th graders (in year 7 of teaching them!?). This slide felt heavy-handed and ridiculous to me, but has been extremely effective. #langchat

I have updated my brain break slide and I am quite pleased with the results. #langchat

My ePals collaborating teacher had her French 6th graders make notebook covers for English class, and my 6th graders are to vote on their favorites! I think my students will be surprised by the small place of the US in French students' imagination (just a 🌭 & 🚚!). 🤣 #langchat #fle

Favorite classroom organization hack (discovered during COVID!): put tape to indicate where desks go in your classroom. Then direct students to push desks back to their proper location anytime! Helpful when you've got a lot of kids and backpacks navigating a too-small space. #langchat

Classroom set-up complete!

A 6th grade ELA teacher helped me figure out how to hang the francophone flags in an attractive & non-chaotic manner, I reused my composition books for a 4th year of L1 reflective journaling, and I've already had a canary in the coalmine moment. #langchat

Public media has been defunded, but there’s still a chance to restore it. I just signed up for updates from Protect My Public Media, so I’ll know exactly when and how to take action. Join me: bit.ly/45puWl4

I love the "Proficiency in My District" component of Proficiency Academy!

Here at #MAFLA Proficiency Academy, we're hearing how #ACTFL leaders Paul Sandrock & Omar Rachid provided a helpful framework for Evan Greenwald's district as they transitioned toward proficiency-based instruction.

So excited to be back at #MAFLA Proficiency Academy to head up the Implementation Strand again! So far, we've talked about #ACTFL levels & setting proficiency targets. #langchat #actfl

My students made a "joyeux anniversaire" video for our Quebec tour guide during our long trip back to Boston, which I sent him on his birthday yesterday. So sweet! #langchat
