Zeemanskoor Bravour is a great representation of the gathering together of retirees to sing and play maritime music. These "shantykoors" or "shantychors" are prominent in Germany and the Netherlands.

Trzy Majtki (Pron. Shh MIGHT-key) is a great bunch of maritime music entertainers from Gdansk. They have performed on the maritime music circuit, but play at a lot of venues across Poland as well.

Joanna Carver Colcord (March 18, 1882 – April 8, 1960) was pioneering social worker, and author. She published texts on the language, work songs, and sea shanties of American seamen.
She is best known for her 1924 book, Roll and Go: Songs of American Sailormen.
