Enthusiastic about music in all shapes and sizes. Learning guitar, and have become a bit of a pedal obsessive. Known to enjoy a craft beer and folk horror. Born in Brum (still work there), but more often found around Walsall and Lichfield.

Pebbling: sending little links and memes to the people that you love. Derived from the behavior of gentoo penguins, who “pick up pebbles in their beak and carry them to their partners or potential partners as a gift”. [redsetteragency.com]
Words we love: Pebbling – a new love language | Blog | Red Setter
It’s a word I admit I’ve not really thought of, until in recent weeks it became news that ‘Pebbling’ is the new term for when people share memes and gifs to…

The thing about a “LadBaby comeback” (god help us) is that they already feel like the product of a different time; their singles are just a perfect fit for the Johnson era, a slapped together grift preying on the known weakness of Britain for a “bit of fun”

How did I not know about this? I think Ramsay is only really challenged by Jonathan Glazer as best living director

There's been so many times I've heard Nick Grimshaw say "I'll be with you until 10 until Lauren takes over" and then got this stuck in my head spotify.link/JN1xVvWSDXb

Just noticed that Donkey Skin is on Prime Video; I love Demy, and think is a fantastic film, albeit one that is too odd to get the plaudits that Umbrellas Of Cherbourg receives.

I've tried to do a playlist of 80s Pastoral, but struggled - any suggestions? I've put Kate Bush, Virginia Astley, "It's A Fine Day", "Spring Is Coming With A Strawberry In The Mouth" so far but that's about it. Maybe Art Of Noise?
As Hounds Of Love turns 40, Toby Manning explores how Kate Bush suffused 80s pop with the pastoral and evoked both the allure and the terror of nature, allowing her to both capture the uncanny and make it commercial

The Pavarotti Snake Oil Cabinet sounds like it should be a track from Here Come The Warm Jets
Eno diary, 12 Sept 1995: "My cold gone thanks to the Pavarotti
snake-oil cabinet - Feldene Fast (piroxicam 20 mg), Pfizer
Fluimucil 600 (acetylcysteine 600 mg) and ‘Coryfin’-Bayer were
the ones I used in the end). Well, if anyone has it sorted out, it
should be him."

Lovely to see Anna Domino's East and West as the Sunday Album Review on Pitchfork. The first time I heard "Everyday , I Don't" it beguiled me; like what Young Marble Giants might have grown up into:

About 25 years ago I saw Peel at a Broadcast gig. I was really into psych at the time, and asked if he was still in touch with any of The Misunderstood, a band he managed in the 60s. He spent about 10 minutes telling me about what they were up to, and when he last spoke to them. Proper gent.
Remembering John Peel on his birthday. He celebrated his 40th in August 1979 by playing 40 of his favourite records on his radio show. They're in this playlist

I was raised without any kind of male role model when growing up, and now realise:

1. I don't have anything against traditional masculine traits, but they're universal and society encourages them in men and quashes them in women

2. Performative masculinity is rooted in a deep cultural homophobia
